I look forward to being in the chemistry class every afternoon. The reason is her. She sits right in front of me. She looks at me, and then it happens. Her eyes meets mine and I stare into her eyes trying to fathom what she is thinking. Is she thinking about me or is she thinking of chemistry. The chemistry inside the brain that makes you aware how green the trees are, blue the sky is and how beautiful the pattering of the rain sounds.
She stirs a little in her seat and my concentration wavers. Snapped out of the sky, trees and the rain only to find myself mesmerized by her beauty. Her fair complexion, feline eyes, and her angel like face. I cannot help but be smitten by her hair, her smile and her hands. Everything perfect and everything beautiful. Her dress augments her beauty. The folds in her clothes and the intricate patterns of colour and shade-light that it drew. And my mind goes like Uff teri ada.
I realize she had looked at me for a purpose. She wants to ask me something. A little hesitant. As if trying to figure out the best way to put the question. Reminds me how difficult it is for me to approach a girl to ask that one question. But why is she dithering. Is it something...that thing ?
She looks down into her notebook. Oh My God ! Did I stare at her for too long ? No. She is looking up now. Ready to ask. She asks "Sir, I don't get it. How did you get one point one naught four three in that equation ?"
A question to remind me of my aukat(status). Anyway, I answer "Use formula number four, the one I showed you yesterday. And don't call me 'Sir'. In fact, nobody should call me 'Sir'. " She smiles then nods her head and dives into her notebook again.
Actually, I am taking Chemistry classes trying to prepare students for IIT JEE. As a strong advocate of 'Promote Girl Education' campaign(so that they come to IIT...) I have decided not to get distracted and jeopardize my students' chances of coming to IIT. Considering the strength of female IIT population I know I had done the right thing. More girls, less frustapa less suicide. I have made a big sacrifice but in the words of Spock and Dr. Sheldon Cooper "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" or "the one".
Curse you smelly pooper and spock.
